JV leads the Department responsible for the fuel procurement, system optimization, and energy market activities that support operations at over 49,000 megawatts of Duke’s regulated electric generation fleet. His team manages generation commitment across five jurisdictions in both organized and traditional wholesale electric markets.
He has been with Duke Energy since 2001. Prior to that was Vice President in the United States Government Bond Trading organizations of Chase Manhattan Bank and Cantor Fitzgerald & Co.
John received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The University of Rochester in 1983, and a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from Rutgers University in 1985. Additional training includes programs at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School, and the Center for Creative Leadership.
John sits on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Valley Electric Corporation, and is past Director and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Florida Cost Based Broker System.
