In 2008, Ken started the TCU Energy Institute and organized 24 companies as energy board members. He established a new Energy Minor for student in “any major” at TCU and the Institute became a recognized forum for local, state and national energy issues. He has been asked to speak to numerous energy groups throughout Texas and as a invited “keynote speaker” at many state and national conferences about energy education, our energy future and the importance of continuing to develop a strong domestic energy base. This led to hosting an International Conference and book on “Global Impact of Unconventional Energy Resources” (2015) attended by invited experts from over 12 energy producing countries (Manochehr Dorraj and Ken Morgan, Editors, 2019, Global Impact of Unconventional Energy Resources, International Conference Papers, Lexington Books, New York, 307 p.ISBN 9781498566087”).
In 2019, he retired as Director of the TCU Energy Institute after 40 years of service to the university. He has published numerous articles on energy, has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal and continues to be a guest on WBAP radio in the DFW area on energy issues facing Texas and the nation. Recent invited keynote presentations include: Alabama Natural Gas Association (ANGA), American Public Gas Association (APGA) and Florida Gas Utility (FGU).
Currently, he has even more time to address the critical importance of domestic energy for the long term stability of our nation’s energy future. Currently, he is focused on climate change issues and the impacts on long term energy decisions. Ken is Treasurer for the Stockyards Rotary and serves on the Boards of the Texas Natural Gas Foundation (TXNG.org) as well as the Texas Energy Council (TEC) (texasenergycouncil.org to help develop and promote the Texas Energy Education Program (TEEP) being adopted in Texas schools. Lastly, he is on the Board and also enjoys assisting special needs riders weekly at The All Star Equestrian Equine Therapy Center (allstarfoundation.org), cross-country Rving, and playing bass guitar in his band for charity events.
