Lisa D. Johnson

On July 30, 2013, Lisa D. Johnson began serving as Seminole’s sixth Chief Executive Officer and General Manager. As Seminole’s CEO, she is responsible for overall Cooperative operations. She reports directly to Seminole’s Board of Trustees.

Prior to joining Seminole, Johnson served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) in Glen Allen, Virginia. Johnson joined ODEC in 2006 following an 11-year tenure with Mirant Corporation and Southern Company.

Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and materials science from Duke University. She serves as Chair of the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council, Chair of the Florida Electric Power Coordinating Group, Director and member of the Executive Committee on the Board of the Florida Electric Cooperatives Association, Director on the Board of the Electric Power Research Institute and Chair of its Governance and Nominating Committee, is a past President of the National G&T Managers Association, Director on the Board and member of the Board Executive Committee of the SERC Reliability Corporation, and Director on the Board of AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc. Johnson was named as one of Florida Trend Magazine’s 2019 “Most Influential Business Leaders.” She was also named one of Virginia’s most “Influential Women” in 2012.

Seminole Electric Cooperative is one of the largest generation and transmission cooperatives in the country. Seminole’s purpose is to provide essential wholesale services to our Members through a balanced, diversified portfolio of safe, affordable, and reliable energy resources to its nine, not-for-profit, Member-owned distribution electric cooperatives. Approximately 1.7 million people and businesses in parts of 42 Florida counties rely on Seminole Member cooperatives for electricity. Seminole’s primary resources include the Seminole Generating Station (SGS) in northeast Florida and the Richard J. Midulla Generating Station (MGS) in south central Florida. Seminole also owns and maintains more than 350 miles of transmission line.

Congressman David B. McKinley, PE

Representative West Virginia’s 1st Congressional District

David B. McKinley, P.E. has represented the First District of West Virginia since January 3, 2011.

Born in Wheeling in 1947, David attended public schools and worked his way through college, graduating from Purdue University with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he worked in the construction industry as a certified professional engineer.

David is the founder of McKinley and Associates — an architectural and engineering firm — with offices in Wheeling and Charleston, W.Va. and Washington, PA. Over the 44 years that David ran the business, he created hundreds of jobs.

As one of two professional engineers in Congress, he has a seat on the Committee on Energy and Commerce, where he has been active on issues related to the coal industry, environmental regulation, energy efficiency, and health care. He serves as the vice-chairman of the Subcommittee on Environment.

David is married to Mary (née Gerkin) from New Martinsville, West Virginia and they are the proud parents of four children and grandparents of six grandchildren.

Steve Winberg

As Assistant Secretary, Steve Winberg is responsible for the management and oversight of FE’s research and development program, encompassing coal, oil, and natural gas, as well as the Office of Petroleum Reserves.

Prior to joining DOE, Mr. Winberg served as a senior-level executive with proven expertise in fossil energy research & development, energy policy, strategic planning, business development, and sales management. He is a specialist in emerging fossil energy technologies affecting the environment and end-use applications with extensive experience in fuels, emerging technologies, renewables, energy regulation, Department of Energy Cooperative Agreements, global energy markets, and government relations. He holds patents related to NOx reduction technologies.

Mr. Winberg has 40 years of successful senior corporate management, enabling the development of coal and natural gas technologies for both production and end-use; including emission control technologies, near-zero emission technologies (including CCUS technologies), and improved efficiency power production technologies from early stages, through engineering development and demonstration, and commercial deployment. He has extensive experience working with prime users and owners of gas and coal-based power, fuel generation, and delivery technologies, including an extensive understanding of the Federal Government’s business practices and the role it plays in shaping the Nation’s energy policies.

Mr. Winberg began his career at the engineering firm Foster Wheeler as an engineer on coal-fired utility boilers. From there, he spent 14 years with Consolidated Natural Gas working in a variety of positions before becoming Vice President for CONSOL Energy Research & Development. Immediately prior to coming to DOE, Mr. Winberg served as a Senior Program Manager at Battelle Memorial Institute.

Over the span of his career, Mr. Winberg has participated in a number of policy and energy initiatives. He has also gained extensive experience in numerous energy technologies, including advanced fossil energy combustion, coal-to-liquids, fluidized bed combustion, emulsified fuels, fuel cells, alternative fuel vehicles, and carbon utilization.

Adam Longson

Adam Longson is Vice President of Energy, responsible for managing CSX’s business with customers in the export and domestic utility coal, liquefied petroleum gas and crude oil markets.

Longson joined CSX in 2019 after serving in multiple leadership positions with investment research firms, specializing in energy and commodities. Most recently, he was director of commodity research and hedging at Continental Resources. Previously, he served as head of commodity research at Madava Asset Management, global head of energy commodity research at Morgan Stanley, vice president of equity research for freight transportation at Morgan Stanley, and a senior strategy analyst at British Petroleum.

A Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Public Accountant, Longson holds a bachelor’s degree in information and decision sciences, with a minor in mathematical computer science, from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Seth Schwartz

Mr. Schwartz is the President of the consulting firm of Energy Ventures Analysis and was one of the founders of the firm in 1981.

He and his firm specialize in the applied analysis of energy markets, including power, coal, natural gas, oil, renewables, and emissions.

EVA publishes regular reports on energy markets, including forecasts of supply, demand, and prices. VA’s clients include energy consumers, producers, and transporters as well as investors and regulators. Mr. Schwartz manages EVA’s coal consulting practice, which includes market studies, investment analysis, procurement operations, property valuations, and transaction services.

Mr. Schwartz testifies on energy markets before courts and regulatory agencies and has served as an arbitrator in contract disputes. He has also served as CEO of Centennial Resources and Atlantic Carbon, two coal producers, and has been an agent for power plant coal procurement activities.

He received a degree in Geological Engineering from Princeton University in 1977.

Jim Thompson

Jim Thompson, Executive Director for IHS Markit Coal and IHS Markit Coal Markets Expert, has analyzed and provided insight on coal markets for nearly three decades.

He is a lead commentator for the IHS Markit Coal & Energy daily newsletter and editor of US Coal Review. Thompson’s major area of expertise is the North American coal markets, though he is conversant on worldwide market trends.

Mr. Thompson’s expertise is both in thermal coal for electricity production and metallurgical coal for use in the steelmaking process.

He is widely quoted in major financial newspapers and speaks at multiple industry-related conferences. Thompson has performed coal market consultations both for coal producers and consumers as well as for financial analysts and investors. Thompson’s views on the coal markets are widely read throughout the world.

Thompson came to IHS Markit as a part of its acquisition of Energy Publishing, of which he was a co-founder.

Mr. Thompson was educated at Dallas Baptist University.

Tory Bombard

Tory Bombard has 20 years dedicated to a career of service at the City of Lakeland, working in Finance than moving into operations at its utility Lakeland Electric. Her position with Lakeland Electric is the Fuels Manager responsible for managing the fuel budget, which consists of Solar, Oil, Natural Gas, and Coal. She provides financial updates to the Utility Committee and City Commission quarterly to establish the utility’s fuel rates. She is also a trustee of the General Employees’ Pension Plan, whose role is to manage the investments.

Tory serves as the Chair of the Eastern Fuel Buyer Committee for 2020.

Ms. Bombard graduated from the University of South Florida and has two undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Finance and a Master’s in Public Administration. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Public Pension Trustee (CPPT).

Outside of her professional life, Tory’s hobbies include spending time with her family and BBQ competition cook-offs.
